Description | MISSED INDEPENDEANCE
"Ashley pony" is quiet, kind and respectful. Started as a two-year-old here on the Dryhead she has accumulated quite the resume and all while packing a growing and learning young man. It has never been uncommon for Ashley to put in a good days work and then cool off in the creek with the kids, who since returning to the yard have taken up swimming, even if it is only in 18 inches of water. The kid shenanigans are constant, and she just takes them in stride as if they are a normal part of her day.
In the midst of the kid shenanigans "Ashley" has also seen plenty of big, rough country, and handles it well. Through rocky, steep terrain she handles it all gracefully, travels smooth and is easy to ride.
James loves to rope so over the last few years there are not many areas with a rope she hasn't seen. Whether it's twirling the butterfly or trick shotting everything in sight, she has had ropes in, around, and all over her. On the more serious side of roping, she has been a partner in the branding pen, doctored sick calves and even had a little fun in town at the kids and local rodeos breakaway roping. She's not screaming fast, but she stands quiet in the box, tracks well, rates off and has a nice stop.
There have been numerous kids of varying riding abilities use her around the yard, and she seems to adjust between each level of rider with ease and will not put forth more effort than what her rider is asking. When riding outside we feel she is best suited for a youth who is confident in steering and stopping. She is not overly forward but is not a dead head either.
"Ashley" is easy to catch whether out in the pasture or in a pen. She loads in the trailer with no hesitation and hauls well. A nice all-around pony mare that fits into the herd without causing any trouble. To visit with us about "Ashley" or to come try her before the sale give us a call to set up a time. (307)272-6175.
